Thank you so much for offering your time and skills to the Night Shelter. Volunteers are what make the shelter work.

THINGS ARE CHANGING, SO WE ARE NOT RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS DIRECTLY AT THE MOMENT

We hope you will find it a rewarding and enjoyable experience. You might like to start by reading through the Volunteer Handbook to get more details about the way it all works, and what is expected of volunteers. Unfortunately we cannot allow under-18’s to be on site with our homeless guests, but we do have some teenagers helping with setting up in the early evening. Please email our administrator for more info.

There are well-established teams in most of the venues. We will pass on your availability and details to the venues hosting the shelter. They will contact you if they need help at the times you have specified. We may also email you if you offer specific skills (eg translation) as and when we need it, and when we have a sudden need in a particular place. If you don’t hear anything and want to talk about what you have to offer, or to visit to see what goes on at the shelter, please feel free to email or call our administrator on office@ecwns.org.uk or 07930 378263.

  • • send venue coordinators a list of available volunteers, so that they can arrange schedules
  • • call for volunteers occasionally if we are suddenly short of people
  • • occasionally ask for help with associated events like packing equipment or fundraising efforts
  • • invite you to events associated with the shelter, such as training and feedback meetings
